Fibre Circuit Planned Engineering Works - 3rd to 4th November 2021

We have been notified of planned engineering works to one of our point-to-point fibre circuits between our Data Centre and our transit provider Cogent's POP in London Canary Wharf.

We do not anticipate services will be affected during this time. Any traffic carried over the circuit will be automatically rerouted over multiple alternative fibre circuits.

Start of work - At-Risk period:
Start Date: 3rd November 2021 Start Time: 16:00 BST

End of work - At-Risk period:
Risk End Date: 4th November 2021 Start Time: 08:00 BST

Service Impact:
No impact to live services is expected, and we will maintain 2N network redundancy during the maintenance window.

Reason:
Fibre maintenance to divert fibre cabling in a river crossing.




Transit Provider, Lumen Planned Works - 27th to 28th October 2021

08 October 2021, in Network, Data Centre

One of our transit providers, Lumen (CenturyLink) has notified us of maintenance taking place at their POP in Telehouse North, London.


We do not anticipate services will be affected during this time. Network traffic will be carried by our other transit providers, Cogent and Telia at their POP's in London and Slough, during the planned works.


Start of work - At-Risk period:

Start Date: 27th October 2021 Start Time: 17:00 BST


End of work - At-Risk period:

Risk End Date: 28th October 2021 Start Time: 08:00 BST


Service Impact:

No impact to live services is expected, and we will maintain network redundancy during the maintenance window.


Reason:

Essential network maintenance activity is taking place within Lumens UK Optical Transmission Network platform. They have a major programme requirement to migrate all traffic from legacy equipment which is due to be de-commissioned to upgraded hardware and software version.

We do not anticipate services will be affected during this time. Network traffic will be carried by our other transit providers, Cogent and Telia at their POP's in London and Slough, during the planned works.

Start Date: 26th June 2021 Start Time: 17:00 BST


End of work - At-Risk period:

Risk End Date: 27th June 2021 Start Time: 08:00 BST


Service Impact:

No impact to live services is expected, and we will maintain network redundancy during the maintenance window.


Reason:

Due to a request by Telehouse to remove all services from a legacy CenturyLink area will be moving from TFM12 to TFM20, this is operationally a joint activity between Lumen and Telehouse. External Splicing to take place on at East India Dock Rd.




Fibre Circuit Planned Engineering Works - 10th to 11th June 2021

26 May 2021, in Network, Data Centre

One of our fibre providers has notified us of maintenance taking place to reroute fibre, which will cause the loss of one of our point-to-point fibre circuits to our Data Centre.


We do not anticipate services will be affected during this time. Any traffic carried over the circuit will be automatically rerouted over alternative fibre circuits.


Start of work - At-Risk period:

Start Date: 10th June 2021 Start Time: 17:00 BST


End of work - At-Risk period:

Risk End Date: 12th June 2021 Start Time: 08:00 BST


Service Impact:

No impact to live services is expected, and we will maintain 2N network redundancy during the maintenance window.


Reason:

SSE is carrying Planned Engineering Works as the cable needs to be diverted due to a housing development being built. The cable will be cut at the beginning of the outage window, and SSE anticipate that the full requested window will be required, this is due to the fibre count of the cable.


This work was previously meant to be completed by SSE on the 26th May 2021 but was not carried out due to "unforeseen site restrictions/civil works taking place".


Update 4th June 2021

This work has been rescheduled. Please see below message from SSE;

"Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience this matter causes, this work has been rescheduled as we have found a clash of works taking place on the 10/06/2021."



Fibre Circuit Planned Engineering Works - 26th to 27th May 2021

We want to inform customers that SSE will carry out Planned Engineering Works that will affect one of our fibre circuits to our Data Centre between 26th May 2021 17:00 and 27th May 2021 08:00 BST.

Services will not be affected during this time as all traffic will be automatically routed over alternative fibre circuits.

There will be no interruption to services, but there will be reduced resilience during the period.

Start of work - At-Risk period:
Start Date: 26th May 2021 Start Time: 17:00 BST

End of work - At-Risk period:
Risk End Date: 27th May 2021 Start Time: 08:00 BST

Service Impact:
No impact to live services is expected. Services should be considered at risk during the period due to the loss of resilience. 

Reason:

Unfortunately, this change has had to be rescheduled to the 10/06 due to the current site restrictions/civil works taking place, this is unfortunately unforeseen complications which now means this evening work has had to be postponed."
