Web Wiz Network Announcements > NetworkData Centre Loss of Fibre Circuit - 13th June 2022 08:20 BST13 June 2022, in Network, Data Centre
We are currently experiencing packet loss on our Neos fibre circuit between our Bournemouth Data Centre and Tele House North, London . This would have caused three short intermittent connections to our Data Centre over this circuit.
The faulty circuit that is the cause of the issue has been removed from service. The supplier of the faulty circuit is investigating the problem. Traffic has rerouted and normal service has resumed apologies if you were affected. We have raised a ticket with the supplier and await their updates. Service Impact: Customers should not consider the service at risk. Our contingency plans allow for such a scenario where one or more fibre circuits can be removed from service without affecting connectivity and performance, while still retaining redundancy. Update 14th June 2022 @ 07:30 BST
We are still seeing intermittent packet loss on the circuit and are therefore not routing traffic over the affected circuit at this time. OpenReach and Neos Engineers are continuing to investigate the issue and have replaced optics and Network Termination Equipment (NTU) to try and resolve the issue. Update 15th June 2022 @ 09:00 BST Neos engineers replaced the optics in the 10Gbps link to London, Telehouse North last night at 23:38 BST. Monitoring is confirming traffic is routing normally, and the faulty link will be brought back into service at 09:00 BST this morning. Update 15th June 2022 @ 09:45 BST
Monitoring has detected intermittent packet loss on the circuit to Telehouse North, we have therefore removed the affected circuit from service. We have updated the supplier and await their reply. Update 15th June 2022 @ 11:00 BST Neos Engineers are arranging to place a tester on the circuit overnight with a loop at the exchange to locate and fix the issue. We expect the next update will be tomorrow. Update 16th June 2022 @ 16:00 BST Neos Engineers have been able to locate the portion of the circuit that has the fault. We expect the next update will be tomorrow. Update 17th June 2022 @ 14:30 BST Further testing overnight by Neos Engineers found a fault between Bournemouth and Southampton on their Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and moved the link to another channel. Resolved Monitoring of the link has seen no packet loss since the circuit came back online at 07:30 BST. The circuit has been bought back into service and BGP traffic is routing normally. |

Data Centre Loss of Fibre Circuit10 May 2022, in Network, Data Centre
We are currently experiencing an outage on our Neos fibre circuit between our Bournemouth Data Centre and Tele House North .
This would have caused a momentary blip for those connecting to our Data Centre over this circuit while traffic moved over to our other circuits. Customers should not consider the service at risk as we retain 2N redundancy to our Data Centre over our other fibre circuits at this time. We have raised a ticket with the supplier and await their updates. Update 15:45 BST We would be shutting down the Neos fibre circuit in 15 minutes for planned engineering works by Neos Network on the circuit. Please see notification at the link below;
https://status.webwiz.net/network-announcements/neos-fibre-circuit-planned-engineering-works-10th-to-11th-may-2022_post711.html As the circuit is presently down we are going to bring forward the maintenance window and place the circuit in to a shut down state now till tomorrow morning at 08:00 BST. Traffic on the circuit has already rerouted to our other fibre circuits and we will maintain 2N network redundancy during the maintenance window. Update 23:30 BST Service has now been restored. One of the circuits multiplexer cards had become faulty and was replaced by Neos Networks. The replacement of the faulty part resolved the issue.

Transit Provider, Lumen Planned Works #2 - 25th to 26th April 202201 April 2022, in Network, Data CentreOne of our transit providers, Lumen has notified us of maintenance taking place in Telehouse North, London, UK that will affect routing to our Data Centre.
Start of work - At-Risk period: Start Date: 25th April 2022 Start Time: 17:00 BST
End of work - At-Risk period: Risk End Date: 26th April 2022 2021 Start Time: 08:00 BST
Service Impact: We do not anticipate services will be affected during this time. Traffic to our Data Centre is routed using three tier 1 transit providers, and traffic will be carried by our other transit providers during the period allowing us to retain redundancy throughout.
Reason: Lumen intends to carry out internal maintenance within its network. The nature of this work is to perform a Network Element firmware upgrade. Work is required to perform infrastructure maintenance on core equipment to ensure the continued integrity of the network. |
