Web Wiz Network Status and Announcements > Shared Web HostingWindows Server and Firewall Updates - September 202510 September 2025, in Shared Web Hosting, Hyper-V Cloud Servers, Dedicated ServersWe will be performing Windows Updates on our Windows Shared Hosting Servers, Hyper-V Platform, Hyper-V Servers, Managed Dedicated Servers, and Customer Managed Firewalls during the following period: Start of work - At-risk period: Start Date: 11th September 2025 End of work - At-risk period: Risk End Date: 12th September 2025 Times work will be carried out: Start Time: 05:00 BST End Time: 8:30 BST Service Impact: After the updates are applied, each server will need to be rebooted twice, resulting in a brief service interruption of approximately 1 to 4 minutes per reboot. Reason: Microsoft releases Windows updates and patches on the second Tuesday of each month. These updates address security vulnerabilities, performance issues, and other concerns. After testing the latest updates, we will roll them out to all Web Wiz Managed Windows Servers. Additionally, Negate has released new firmware for their firewalls, and we will be updating customer firewalls to the latest version. |

Shared Hosting Mail Server Upgrade - 3rd to 7th February 202531 January 2025, in Shared Web Hosting
We will be upgrading the hardware for our shared hosting mail server cluster. Start of work - At-risk period: Start Date: 3rd February 2025 End of work - At-risk period: Risk End Date: 7th February 2025 Service Impact: There may be brief periods lasting less than 5 minutes during which SMTP, IMAP, POP, and webmail services will be unavailable as we restart services another member of our mail server cluster. Any emails sent to your mailboxes during this time will be managed by our secondary MX mail service and will be delivered once the primary mail service is back online. Reason: We are upgrading all the servers in the mail server cluster to provide more disk space, improved disk I/O speeds, and new Xeon CPUs with more cores to improve email processing.

Shared Hosting Removal of PHP 7.4 and 8.012 June 2024, in Shared Web HostingAfter the notification in Q4 of 2023 regarding the discontinuation of maintenance for PHP 7.4 and 8.0, it is now time for their removal from our shared hosting web servers. On June 6th, 2024, a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability (CVE-2024-4577) was disclosed. This vulnerability is currently being exploited in the wild to gain system privileges on web servers, leading to ransomware infections for all websites hosted on the same web server.
The latest PHP versions 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 have been patched. However, PHP 7.4 and PHP 8.0 are still vulnerable, and no patches will be available to secure them. We have implemented measures to secure our servers, but it's possible that attackers may find new ways to exploit these vulnerabilities. To ensure the safety of customer data, we will remove PHP 7.4 and PHP 8.0 from our servers on Monday, July 15th, 2024. If your website is using PHP, please migrate to PHP 8.1, 8.2, or 8.3 before this date. If the mitigations we have in place no longer protect web servers, we may need to remove PHP 7.4 and 8.0 before Monday, July 15th, 2024.
