MySQL Database Upgrades - September 202016 September 2020, in Shared HostingAs previously notified in June, we will be carrying out updates to our Shared Hosting MySQL 5.7 Database Servers to upgrade them to MySQL 8 during September 2020.
Start of work - At Risk period: Start Date: 20th September 2020 End of work - At Risk period: Risk End Date: 28th September 2020 Times work will be carried out: Start Time: 05:00 GMT End Time: 8:30 GMT Service Impact: Each MySQL Database Server will be off-line for between 10 and 20 minutes while it is updated to MySQL 8.
Customers may need to make changes to their databases and applications that connect to those databases to be compatible with MySQL 8. The biggest change is how you authenticate with MySQL 8 Databases. We will be retaining the 'Standard' login for existing MySQL Users to avoid impacting customer services. Reason: MySQL 5.7 goes End Of Life (EOL) in October 2020 when security updates from Oracle will end. |
